The rapid rise of interest in cryptocurrencies and decentralized finance, sparked by innovations like Bitcoin and blockchn technology, continues to grow sign of slowing down. In March 2014, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis led a pioneering move as the first central banking organization globally that sponsored a public discussion on this topic. Since then, economists and research associates from our institution have published extensively across various platforms about these fascinating subjects.
In this comprehensive presentation, Fernando Martin, an economist and Assistant Vice President at our bank, will delve into decentralized finance DeFi, blockchn technology, and digital currencies. Fernando is the co-author of The Blockchn Revolution: Decoding Digital Currencies, a feature essay in our 2021 annual report. Following his insightful talk, he will be joined by David Andolfatto, Senior Vice President at St. Louis Fed, for an interactive QA session.
